About
We aspire to create homes and spaces that empower people to live, adapt, and thrive in ways that suit their needs.
Our approach prioritizes careful observation, simplicity, and restraint. We believe the best architecture enhances life without competing with the beauty of the natural world. Whether it’s preserving a family cabin or housing project to suit evolving needs, we aim to retain the spirit of what makes a place special while ensuring it serves future generations.
From larger-scale housing to intimate renovations, we work closely with clients, builders, and communities to create homes and spaces that foster comfort, practicality, and connection to nature.
Background
LIAN was founded in 2020 following our award-winning entry in the State Government’s Future Homes Competition, which reimagined apartment living in Melbourne’s established suburbs. Since then, we’ve been dedicated to creating housing solutions that meet the needs of today’s society while respecting both urban and natural landscapes. We pursue this through design, research, advocacy, and teaching.
Expertise
Our expertise spans housing, social housing, urban design, commercial, and residential design. We have collaborated with state and local governments, not-for-profit developers, and small business owners. Our experience across multiple scales and sectors allows us to bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to each project, ensuring practical, creative solutions that resonate with clients and communities alike.
